The installation (set-up) is free and there are no service charges. There is NO monthly maintenance fee. To determine the flat, per minute rates, refer to our Rates Page. Due to the increasing costs of terminating calls over mobile networks, some countries have separate rate listings for mobile phones.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to December 2002, our customers were not charged for any incomplete calls. A charged call is a call that appears on Our Invoice. We are now charging the customer for such incomplete calls IF the length of the call attempt exceeds the system allowed grace period - which is 90 seconds. When a callback is received, a call should be placed within 90 seconds of the reception of the callback. If the destination number is not answered, then the customer should either press the star key at least 3 times (***) in rapid succession to disconnect the callback OR press the pound key # at least three times in rapid succession (###) to get a new line to dial again.

1. To use callback you must register for free. You tell UWT which number(s) will be making calls from. UWT provides you with a American telephone number which is unique to you.
2. You need to tell UWT you wish to make a call. The simplest way of doing this is to dial the unique USA number you have been given. Let the phone ring once only and hang up. This costs you nothing.  UWT's computers realize that you want to make a call.
3. You will be called back automatically within about 10 seconds. Answer the phone and you will be asked to "enter your destination number". Make your call and hang up.

Question: Can Callback service be used from a cell phone?

Yes. Call back works on any line that can receive an incoming call. Because many mobile phone providers do not charge airtime for calls received, in addition to saving on long distance charges you might also eliminate airtime charges since callback system calls are perceived by your operator as incoming only calls. Please verify with your cell phone provider as to whether airtime is charged for received calls.

Question: Can Callback service be used with a fax machine?

Question: Is Callback legal in my country?

On June 15, 1995, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission determined that call back service violates neither U.S. domestic nor international law. Some countries' monopoly phone companies will claim that call back is illegal and threaten customers with termination of service. In most cases, this claim is not supported by law or by their government.

(Note: For those who are unable to access Callback for either legal or technical reasons, Global Calling Cards are an excellent alternative.)

The FCC has a mechanism whereby foreign governments can demonstrate that they have passed a law specifically banning call back and obtain FCC assistance in stopping call back operators in the U.S. from providing service to their individual countries. To date, only the Philippines and Saudi Arabia have passed such laws and petitioned the FCC.

Additionally, the FCC's International Bureau maintains a public information file for submissions from any government which seeks to put U.S. carriers on notice that call back using uncompleted call signaling has been declared expressly illegal in it's territory. It should be noted that this public file and list of countries are for informational purposes only. Inclusion in the public file does not constitute FCC judgment on the issue of whether a submission by a foreign government would be valid evidence of illegality in an FCC proceeding.
